As a final synthesis of the various events for the Dada anniversary dada 100 zürich 2016 has planned the Symposium which will place with international guests on July 8th, 2016 at Kaufleuten. Alongside Dada exegetes, philosophers and contemporary artists whose work is related to Dada will present and discuss their perspectives, their research results and findings. The main focus will be on Dada’s interdisciplinary approach and to what extent the first international avant-garde movement in art is still alive today. We will summarize the experiences from the exhibitions or research and art projects which were initiated as part of the Dada anniversary.

The international Symposium which will take place with a Dadalogical round of guests including Greil Marcus, Dada aficionado and punk exegete from San Francisco, László F. Földényi, essayist and theoretist from Budapest, Laurent Le Bon, Grandmaster Curator from Paris, Fredi M. Murer, Cinematic Wizard from Zurich’s Spiegelgasse, and Dieter Meier – dapertutto. Two concrete projects lead up to the Symposium in advance: The first is “Dada on Tour” with its new contacts and networks, and secondly “Salon Suisse” which was organized by Pro Helvetia for the Art Biennial 2015 in Venice and served with its experiences and discussions as direct preparation for the Symposium event.

The Symposium will take place at the club Kaufleuten – the site of the largest Dada soirée in Zurich back in 1919. Tristan Tzara noted that evening: “Guildhall ‘zur Kaufleuten’ NON PLUS ULTRA 8. Dada Night. Manager: W. Serner 1,500 persons at the boiling point, filled the hall.”
